Fishing

Fishing boat

Images - The traditional scene is the sleepy little fishing village by the harbour. The rocky shore and the boats along the docks. Fishermen returning with their catches after risking their lives on the sea. See all  the people gathering - eagerly examining and unloading the fish. A fish processing plant is also part of the scenery. There is a picture of a close knit community with hardships and difficulties endured.    Perception by Ray W

Hauling Freight On the Highway

Perceptions - A vision of a long drive on an endless highway. You're clipping along at 65 mph, but that big rig behind pulls over to pass. He can't waste time obeying the speed limits. A couple of miles more and the highway rises towards the crest of a steep hill. The big rig pours out black smoke as it labours under its heavy load. You zip past the growling monster very easily. But on the other side is a long downgrade, and before long he is on your tail again, getting ready to pass.  Image by Ray Wegner

Highway and Bridge Maintenance

Highway Construction on the Roger's Pass, B.C.

Perceptions - An image of driving on a hot summer day. Signs tell you men and equipment working up ahead.  The flag lady holds up her STOP sign. You wait for oncoming traffic to clear. She waves you on. The smell of hot asphalt. The roar and rumble of equipment working.     Image by Ray W
